Strong pain in the neck forced Mona to report sick
Mona Östman works towards large corporate customers in Sweden. She sits all day in front of the screen handling contract issues, procurement, deliveries, product information and more. In the PC world, platforms and components are often replaced, so Mona must always keep herself updated to provide the best possible comprehensive package to customers. But when she sits in front of the screen, she is not using a regular mouse from the own product range.
RollerMouse helped from severe neck pain
“I would not have been able to work without the RollerMouse. It would have been over.” Therefore, there was no discussion or difficulty getting Lenovo to buy a RollerMouse for Mona when she started seven years ago. By then she had already used it for three years at her former workplace. “I worked for a period of time without the RollerMouse. I was in pain after only three weeks.
Mona Östman’s problem started slowly with pain from her neck that spread out into her shoulders. She took pain relievers, but when the area got inflamed, Mona could not continue working. “My muscles burned from the neck down to my shoulders.”
The pain was back within a week
She went on sick leave for two weeks and received training and massage. Back in the workplace, the pain was back within a week. Someone then suggested trying the RollerMouse. However, it took a week to figure out how it worked and get comfortable with it. “After the first week I was close to giving up. The way you work with a mouse is so ingrained. But after the second week I was up to the same speed with the RollerMouse. And all the pain was gone. It’s just great. I do not understand why not more people use it. It’s a cheap investment. One or two days’ sick leave cost more for the employer.”

"All functions are in front of you, with small movements I get to where I want. There is a shorter path to everything I have to do and I’m simply becoming more efficient. It’s a productive tool, a tool that makes a big difference."
Everything is centred
Mona Östman believes that the big difference to ordinary mice is that everything is centred in relation to keyboard and screen, allowing for a better work position and faster work.
“I don’t need to move my arm to the side to grab a mouse. All functions are in front of you, with small movements I get to where I want. There is a shorter path to everything I have to do and I’m simply becoming more efficient. It’s a productive tool, a tool that makes a big difference. It’s not just a nice thing to have. Everyone who has problems with pain should try it. You should not have to take pain killers at work,” says Mona Östman.
